Denver Cat Company's primary focus is to provide our customers with the company of cats. We are not a rescue group and we are not an adoption center. We only foster the kitties until they find homes. Adoptions are simply a happy side effect of what we do.
Adoptions are conducted through and processed by our partnering rescue agencies, and adoption fees are determined by (and paid to) the rescue group to help defray the cost of spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, and FIV/FeLV testing. Denver Cat Company does not receive any part of the adoption fee, and we foster the cats at our own expense. The application process varies depending on which rescue group the cat is from. Life is Better, Planet Pet, and PawsCo all have online applications. Kneady Kitten and Adams County Animal Shelter have paper applications that are available at the counter at the cafe.
After you apply for a cafe cat, you will be contacted by the rescue group in question and they will give you further instructions. You can expect to take your cat home 2-4 days after you apply and are approved.
Note that the cafe owner and employees do not have any control over who is approved for adoption.
If you want to adopt a kitten . . .
Please check with a rescue group or shelter. The cafe gets very few kittens, and they are always the first to go. We would rather focus on adult cats who have a harder time finding homes. Please consider giving an adult cat a home.
If you know of a cat who is homeless . . .
A lot of people call Denver Cat Company asking if we will take in a cat they are giving up, or a cat they have found on the street. Unfortunately, since we are not licensed as a rescue, we are not able to take in cats. Please contact a shelter or rescue group.
