2. Where is Denver Cat Company located?

We are located at 3929 Tennyson St.

3. What are your hours?

Monday through Thursday = 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Friday & Saturday = 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Sunday = 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

4. Do you have free wifi?

Yes.

5. Do patrons get to bring their own cats to the café?

No.  The café has its own rotating cast of cats that are available for adoption.  Part of the purpose of the café is to provide cat company (see what we did there?) to patrons who are unable to have a cat at home, and also to help our partnering rescue groups move their population of cats into permanent, stable, loving homes.

6. Do you charge for entry?

Yes, like most cat cafes, we charge for entry. Our fee is $5/person and applies equally to adults and kids over the age of 3. Unlike most cat cafes, we neither require reservations, nor put a time limit on your visit. For more details on what the entry fee is used for and membership options, see here.

7. Do you allow kids? Is there an age limit?

Kids of all ages are allowed as long as they are accompanied by an adult, and we do expect adequate supervision and childrens' adherence to a set of common-sense rules. These rules include: No picking up of cats, no chasing cats, no running or jumping since heavy footfalls make cats nervous, and use of low voices. If we find that a certain child is unable to be quiet and respectful, staff may speak to the parents, and if the issue isn't resolved, we reserve the right to ask the party to leave.

8. How do I find out more about your cats?

Check out our cats page! We generally have around 8-10 cats at a time. We average two adoptions per week. The page is updated at least a couple of times per week.

9. What about food regulations prohibiting animals in restaurants?

We are not a food facility and thus are very limited in the items we can serve. Under Colorado's Food Code and according to the Denver Health Department, an establishment that serves non-regulated food and drink is not considered a "retail food establishment" and does not require a food facility license.  This also exempts us from any regulations that forbid animals on the premises.  To comply with health regs, we serve only plain brewed coffee (no espresso drinks), tea, bottled drinks and prepackaged snacks.

10. Don't cats hate people?

No.

11. Seriously?

Yes.  We work with our partner rescues to choose cats based on their adaptability to the cafe environment.  Many cats are extremely affectionate and crave human interaction and they much prefer the cafe environment over the shelter. We select cats that are socialized both with humans and other cats, and to the extent they aren't, we help socialize them.  We also reserve a space in the back area of the cafe for cats to retreat to if they are not in the mood to interact with people. Our cats get adopted fairly quickly so most of the cats don't have to put up with the environment for too long, but our cats tend to be very comfortable and relaxed during their stay at the cafe. We do our best to make sure the social aspect of the café is not unpleasant for anyone involved and that the best interest of the cats is being met.
