AdoptionS at the café
Denver Cat Company's primary focus is to provide our customers with the company of cats. We are not set up to be an adoption center, but adoptions are a happy (and desired) side-effect of what we do.
Adoptions are conducted through and processed by our partnering rescue agencies. Applications are considered in the order received.
We do not have the bandwidth to advise you over email regarding which of our cats might be a good fit for you. “Online shopping” for pets is becoming increasingly common, but we do not believe it is the best way to find a good match. We prefer that you come visit us to find your new best friend. Also, if your only purpose in visiting us is to adopt, we recommend a larger shelter over the cat café. The cat café has a much smaller selection of cats and many get claimed very fast. Since we also do charge a fee to enter ($8), we do not want to disappoint you if you are simply looking to adopt, and enjoying the cat café experience is not worth $8 to you.
Our "café cats" page links to the adoption applications which you can complete online. Once you fill out an application, the rescue group will reach out to you for next steps and coordinate the adoption with you. There are no same day adoptions via the cat café.
Adoption fees are determined by (and paid to) the rescue group to help defray the cost of spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, and FIV/FeLV testing.
PawsCo charges $100 for kittens and $50 for adult cats. Life is Better charges $125 for kittens under 6 months, $100 for "teenaged" cats ages 6 months and up but under a year, and $75 for adult cats (over 1 years old). Denver Animal Shelter charges $95 for kittens and $15 for adult cats. Intermountain Humane Society charges $70 for adult cats.
If you want to adopt a kitten . . .
Normally, the café gets very few kittens, and they are always the first to go. We would rather focus on adult cats who have a harder time finding homes. Please consider giving an adult cat a home.
